Puttin' Out The Vibe: A Study of Vibration Damage to Buildings

Course Overview:
This course is intended for insurance adjusters who handle property damage claims involving alleged vibrations from blasting, explosions, or construction activities. This webinar explores the science behind ground and air vibrations, and how those perils adversely affect structures.Attendees will learn how vibrations from construction activities and other sources are managed and detected, as well as how they are perceived by building occupants. We will review several scientific studies that have been published on the subject of vibration damage thresholds and methods of investigating structural damage due to vibrations. Finally, we will present case studies of real-life investigations of insurance claims involving alleged blasting/vibration damage.The goal of the course will be to equip insurance adjusters with an improved understanding of this type of property damage claim such that they may provide the most appropriate service to their insured.
